I’m Kim Mullins, a Navy veteran, published author, poet, and upcoming playwright. My play was selected out of hundreds of submissions for the Tampa Bay Theatre festival. The festival is a competition among seven playwrights presenting original full-length plays. Only one will be selected to showcased for Tampa Bay Theatre Festival in the coming year. My play, “Single Black Female in the Navy,” is a coming-of-age story of a young woman in the military.

It will be featured Saturday, September 2, 2023, at 6 p.m.. Tickets are on sale now on Eventbrite.

My play opens with a focus about sexual harassment and addresses this issue which is still an ongoing problem within the military. The play also addresses becoming self-reliant and falling in love.
