Premiered at Tampa Bay Theatre Festival August 25, 2024
"Your Face"
I’m Kim Mullins, a Navy veteran, published author, poet, and upcoming playwright. My play was selected out of hundreds of submissions for the Tampa Bay Theatre festival, short plays for the 2024. The festival is a competition among several playwrights presenting original short plays not more than ten minutes long. Only one will be selected to showcased for Tampa Bay Theatre Festival in the coming year. My play, “Your Face,”talks about how our expressions, as women of color describe what we are thinking to ourselves. There aren’t too many other cultures where you can read the faces of a person and know their exact thoughts except those of women of color. This is a comedic take on those expressions and how she deals with different situations .
We were one of nineteen plays in the competition this year. It was an honor to participate once again and showcase our talented actors.
It was ranked 7th out of 19 plays by Broadwayworld.com. Their comments were as follows:
YOUR FACE by Kimberly Mullins
The facial expressions of the actresses in this one won me over. I’m still trying to figure out the glittery faced entity—a goddess?—but it was certainly a thought-provoking affair.
